Our Defense of the Latin Mass

Several US bishops, including the influential Cardinal Cupich, are rolling out a progression of heavy restrictions on the Traditional Latin Mass, with the ultimate goal of eradicating it completely. In response, we, a group of Catholic laity from around the US, have united in a shared mission to prevent the elimination of the Mass of the Ages.

Empowered by Canon 212, we have a right and a duty to inform our church leaders when they are in error. We ask you to join us in providing effective deterrence to initiatives aimed at rejecting the sacred, timeless and deeply reverent practices of worship that are bearing great fruit in the world.

History

Quo Primum, the Papal Bull of Pope Pius V, the dubia issued by Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict’s Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum all support the ongoing use of the Traditional Latin Mass.

Traditionis Custodes

Facing growing opposition to his plans for a decentralized “synodal” Church in a permanent state of flux, ostensibly led from the bottom up by the Holy Spirit, Pope Francis issued Traditionis Custodes, which could dissolve faith communities who reject the redefinition of the faith sought by progressives.

Preserving Sacred Tradition

In fidelity to Christ and the unchanging truths of the deposit of faith, many among the faithful see this fight for the integrity of the Church as the hill to die on. We are inspired by the Great Commission.

Then Jesus approached and said to them “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Matthew 28: 18-20

We’re presenting our message to supportive Mass-goers at Cardinal Cupich’s Holy Name Cathedral and nearby parishes.

Would it not be better for our bishops to consistently nurture the growing traditional Catholic communities that have been able to remain faithful to the timeless teachings of the Church?

Donations to this vital cause will be used to fund high visibility messaging across the United States and the world. This will include Catholic news media and social media as well as advertising with an emphasis on fixed and high impact digital mobile billboards. Messaging will be crafted, timed and positioned to give a much needed public voice to traditional Catholics and to provide maximum deterrence to initiatives aimed at rejecting the Catholic Church’s sacred and timeless traditions of worship.
